Emergency Information

If you believe your pet may be ill, or injured,
please immediately call a veterinarian.

If you need emergency animal care or control services,
please immediately call your local Animal Control Department or Humane Organization.

You will find veterinarians, animal hospitals and humane organizations on the free public Pets 911 referral service. Call toll free (English/Spanish) 1-888-PETS-911 or visit www.pets911.com and enter your zip code.

Additionally you will find these professionals in the Yellow Pages listed under "veterinarian," "animal shelter," "humane society," or "animal control."

Public animal care and control agencies often are listed under the city or county health or police departments.

In a life and death situation when every minute counts for an animal, you can call:
  • ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center for 24-hour emergency information. 1-888-426-4435 - 1-888-4ANI-HELP (Note: the extra "P" at the end of this is to help you remember the number, if you dial the P at the end, your call will still go through.) The $45 fee may be applied to a credit card.

  • NSAL America Animal Poison Hotline. Call toll free for service,
1-888-232-8870. There is a $35 charge per incident, and may be paid by credit card.
